Outreach
At Faith Methodist Church, we believe in embodying our faith through action. Our Outreach Ministries are dedicated to extending a hand of love and compassion to our local community and beyond. We invite you to join us in making a positive impact and being a beacon of hope.
Jackson Elementary
A. W. Jackson Elementary is committed to promoting a positive learning climate that will foster life-long learning, success, and literacy for every student in this multi-cultural school. We have a long-standing relationship with Jackson where we come alongside the school. We hold an annual school supplies drive, quarterly teacher appreciation, and a Christmas gift to all staff. Volunteers are always needed. Contact Pastor RaMona Riggs for more information at ramona.riggs@faithmc.org.
Beginning in September 2024, Jackson Elementary students are in need of mentors and tutors for the 2024-2025 school year. No experience is necessary – just a desire to be present for these students that may not have anyone at home that can help them on a regular basis. Mentors will spend approximately 30 minutes with 2-3 students during their lunch time visiting with the students, maybe playing a game with them – just getting to know them and being a stable appropriate adult role model. Tutors will also spend approximately 30 minutes with 1 – 3 students helping them with math and/or reading. Teachers will provide the materials for you to use with the students. Tutors will work with 3rd, 4th, or 5th grade students.
Fort Bend Ramps
Building Ramps for the Mobility Impaired.
For over a decade, members of Faith Methodist Church have volunteered their time with Fort Bend Ramps to build wheelchair ramps, and porches for neighbors in need. This group builds relationships with our neighbors, assesses sites, purchases materials, and constructs quality products with special and loving care. Fort Bend Ramps has scheduled workdays typically one Saturday morning each month. Join us on a build regardless of your skill level! Email Gale Towns to learn more at gale.towns@faithmc.org.
Take a look at the Fort Bend Ramps webpage to learn more about this ministry.
Fort Bend Hope
Fort Bend Hope is solely focused on education as they believe education is the key to breaking the cycle of generational poverty. Education is so much more than facts or figures. It is opportunity and choice. It is control of your own future. It is an investment in yourself and your family. Members at Faith Methodist Church volunteer their time teaching both adults and students in a variety of subjects. Email Adam Yates for more information at adam.yates@faithmc.org or visit their website: fortbendhope.org
Rosenberg-Richmond Helping Hands
Rosenberg-Richmond Helping Hands was founded in 1985 by churches in the West Fort Bend County area, as a non-profit organization that helps people in crisis by providing basic needs on a short-term basis. Faith Methodist Church has partnered with Helping Hands to provide assistance until the individual or family becomes self-sufficient. Our church family holds monthly food drives in support of this wonderful program. We also assist by packing food and preparing for clients on the second Wednesday of each month. If you are interested in serving, sign-up today.
Contact Pastor RaMona Riggs for more information at ramona.riggs@faithmc.org.
Compassion International
Founded in 1952, Compassion International is a Christian child development organization that works to release children from poverty in Jesus’ name. Compassion revolutionized the fight against global poverty by working exclusively with the Church to lift children out of spiritual, economic, social and physical poverty.
October 6 is Compassion Sunday at Faith. We will be blessed to hear from Owen Githanga, a Compassion alumni from Nairobi, Kenya. This will be an opportunity to stretch beyond the shadow of our steeple into the world around us and connect these children with the grace of Jesus.
