Missions of Faith

Jesus said the key to abundant living and the way to eternal life was to love God with all we are and to love our neighbors as ourselves.

Our community needs people who love and follow Jesus to take this command to be a good neighbor seriously.  If we each loved our neighbor, the way Jesus invites us to, our community would be a different place.  In fact, the scripture teaches that in such communities, the kingdom of God has come near.  Faith is committed to the building blocks of community; learning our neighborhoods, hearing our neighbors' stories, and sharing food, laughter and life with the people we live around.

Here you will find some of the ways we are going about loving the people we live among and we hope you will join us.

MISSION Opportunities

Fort Bend Ramps has been building wheelchair ramps, stairs, and porches for our neighbors in need for over a decade! This group builds relationships with our neighbors, assesses sites, purchases materials, and constructs quality products with special and loving care. Fort Bend Ramps has scheduled work days typically one Saturday morning each month. Join us on a build regardless of your skill level!  Email Gail Towns to learn more.

F.U.E.L. is a week long mission experience for high school students.  Volunteer opportunities are available for students who have completed their freshman year through graduated seniors, as well as unique adult positions.  Contact Linda O'Donnell for more information.

H.O.M.E. Project is a large scale, multi-church work day that sends hundreds of volunteers to complete projects all over our Southwest Houston District.  The event is held in late Spring.  If you would like more information, please email Shannon Hegele.

Mid-High Missions Camp is geared specifically for Junior High Students who have completed 6th grade through 8th grade. Students learn to love our neighbors through three days of service, including mowing lawns, painting houses, and volunteering at local nonprofits. Mid-High Missions Camp is an extended weekend during the summer. To learn more, email Linda O'Donnell.

Kairos Prison Ministries - For more than ten years Faith has sent missionaries once a week to a "foreign country" to help stop crime. That "foreign country" is right next to Richmond and unfortunately so is the crime problem.  The "foreign country" is 2 Jester Units Carol Vance- a Christian facility and J-3, a medical facility,  just a few miles from our Church.  Several times a week volunteers from Faith pass through the  gates and into the chapel or another meeting room, to lead inmate-attended classes .  Disciple--the powerful and transforming Bible study program also offered in the free world, Alpha, GED  tutoring, mentoring  and Kairos, a men’s ministry based on the Emmaus concept. Beyond meeting the call to carry the Message even into prisons, this mission opportunity is one that can--and will--have a profound impact on our community. The current missionaries of Prison Disciple agree: it just may be crime prevention at its best with the objective of transforming troubled men into spiritual men.
